A total of five comedians will showcase their unique styles as they take to the stage of The Venetian Theatre in Cotai for the one-night “North, South, East, West’ Stand-Up Comedy Night” next Friday, with tickets now on sale, integrated resort operator Sands China said in a recent statement.
The Macau International Comedy Festival event is set to start at 7:30 p.m. Sands China is the festival’s co-organiser for the second consecutive year.
The line-up of comedians comprises Chinese-American rapper MC Jin, who will make a crossover into comedy; the “Shanghainese comedy king” Men Qiang; Norah, who is “celebrated for her seamless blend of elegance and biting satire”; Liu Rencheng, a rising star and hit sensation on a popular comedy variety show; and Liang Yanzeng the “master of audience interaction”, according to the statement.
“These exceptional performers will break down linguistic, cultural, and genre barriers in this ground-breaking comedy spectacle”, according to the statement. The statement said that ticket prices range from 288 patacas to 888 patacas and can be found on www.cotaiticketing.com, www.macauticket.com and www.damai.cn.
Meanwhile, there are also other events supported by the IR, including the “HER WAY” women’s forum at The Londoner Macau’s Greenwich Ballroom on April 12. It will be hosted by CCTV-6 presenter Lan Yu and feature mainland Chinese actress Ma Li in a discussion about female creators’ artistic journeys, with Hong Kong film director Andrew Lau Wai-keung sharing industry insights.
The day prior, the “Comedy Venture Capital Forum” will be held in Hengqin, with the statement adding that the forum has received over 300 script submissions from Chinese-language creators worldwide and is “designed to encourage original theatrical productions and nurture playwright development”, the statement said.
