The Fire Services Bureau (CB) received a report of a carbon monoxide poisoning incident yesterday. The incident occurred at a flat on the 9th floor of  U WA Building (Block 2) on Rua do Canal Novo (淡붉劤쌍) in the Areia Preta district, where a 56-year-old female resident showed symptoms of carbon monoxide poisoning, but her condition was stabilised after emergency medical treatment.

When firemen arrived at the scene, they found that the resident was suffering from dizziness, vomiting and weakness on the right side of her body, which are typical symptoms of carbon monoxide poisoning, but the patient was conscious. She was accompanied by a family member and rushed by ambulance to Kiang Wu Hospital for treatment.

After testing with a gas detector, firefighters recorded a carbon monoxide (CO1) reading of 326 parts-per-million (PPM) in the kitchen area, far exceeding the safety standard.
