Regulator raises base rate to 1.25 pct

The Macau Monetary Authority (AMCM) said in a statement that it raised the base rate of the discount window yesterday from 1.0 percent to 1.25 percent.

The base rate is the interest rate that a central bank or other monetary regulator will charge to lend money to commercial banks.

The discount window is an instrument of monetary policy that allows eligible institutions to borrow money from the regulator, usually on a short-term basis, to meet temporary
