The private Kiang Wu Hospital’s held a launch ceremony yesterday for its “Traditional Chinese Medicine Inheritance Programme for Orthopaedics and Traumatology”, in conjunction with Foshan Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine*, at the former’s Dr Henry Y.T. Fok Specialist Medical Centre.
The launch of the Programme included a cooperation agreement signing ceremony between the two hospitals.
Pharmaceutical Administration Bureau (ISAF) Acting Director Lei Sai Ian, Dr Fernandes Gomes, who represented both the public Conde de São Januário Hospital Centre and Health Bureau (SSM), Foshan Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine Party Committee Secretary Jiang Kai Ping, Kiang Wu Charitable Association President Lau Veng Seng and others attended the ceremony.
Lau pointed out in his speech that the cooperation agreement between the two hospitals was officially signed in March 2024, marking the beginning of collaborative efforts in talent development, clinical exchanges, discipline advancement, and research translation.
In order to further strengthen medical expertise sharing, the “Traditional Chinese Medicine Inheritance Programme for Orthopaedics and Traumatology” has been established at Kiang Wu Hospital, which will invite Foshan Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine’s (TCM) renowned orthopaedics team to Macau, introducing their advanced clinical practices and unique therapeutic methods, aiming to enhance the quality and accessibility of TCM orthopaedic care for Macau residents, Lau said.
Jiang added that that the Foshan Hospital of TCM orthopaedics team will regularly visit Kiang Wu Hospital to serve as consultant physicians, provide outpatient services, and conduct clinical teaching, aiming to establish a TCM talent training programme and continuously improve the clinical diagnosis and treatment capabilities of traditional Chinese medicine in Macau.
