Integrated resort (IR) operator Sands China recently honoured over 1,000 staff members who celebrated their 20-year, 15-year and 10-year anniversaries in 2025 during long-service ceremonies held in April, according to a Tuesday statement from the company.

The statement noted that trophies, certificates, celebratory set meals, and special gifts were presented to long-serving staff during the ceremonies in appreciation for their contributions and commitment over the years.

Over 14,000 staff will have served the company for 10 years or more by the end of this year, accounting for 50 percent of the workforce, the statement said, adding that there are over 6,000 and 2,000 staff who have worked at the company for over 15 and 20 years respectively.

The statement added that Sands China has provided diversified development opportunities for staff, noting that over the past two decades, the percentage of locals among the IR’s management staff has soared from 20 percent in 2004 to 91 percent.

The statement quoted Sands China Executive Vice Chairman Wilfred Wong Ying-wai as saying that the company has over 27,000 team members, adding: “We are proud that more than half of them have been serving the company for 10 years. We are also delighted to see that we still have 2,000 team members who have been growing with us for more than two decades. This is a testament to the strong cohesion between the team and the company, reflecting their confidence in our shared future.”

Sands China Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director Grant Chum Kwan Lock was also quoted by the statement as saying: “Employees are the driving force of a corporation’s development, and the affection and experiences of our long-serving team members have truly been indispensable to our success.

“Over the past two decades, we have collectively witnessed the splendid transformation of Macau’s skyline – from the inception of Sands Macao to the opening of the dazzling The Londoner Macao. Each of our projects contains our collective endeavours and dedication, and a strong team is always a source of unwavering support”, said Chum.
