A middle-aged local man died in an industrial accident at a pier in the Inner Harbour on Friday night when he accidentally fell into the sea, the authorities have announced.
Details of the case were announced in a statement by the Judiciary Police (PJ) on Friday night and a statement by the Labour Affairs Bureau (DSAL) on Saturday.
Both statements classified the case as an industrial accident.
The PJ statement said that after the man fell into the harbour on Friday night, he was rescued by Macau Customs Service officers and Fire Services Bureau (CB) firefighters, after which he was rushed to hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
The DSAL statement said that the victim was a lorry driver, who accidentally fell into the sea while securing goods on a lorry with ropes.
The statement said that the bureau has launched an investigation into the exact cause of the accident.
