The Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC) announced on Friday that it will host the “Genesis and Spirit – Showcase of Gansu Intangible Cultural Heritage” from June 14 to July 13.
The event aims to celebrate the 2025 China Cultural and Natural Heritage Day and promote cultural exchanges between the Chinese mainland and Macau.
According to the statement, the showcase will feature various activities designed to immerse residents and tourists in the rich culture of Gansu Province, adding that an opening ceremony is scheduled for Saturday at 5:30 p.m. at the Macao Museum.
The statement highlighted that the series of activities will include thematic exhibitions, stage performances, craft demonstrations, and hands-on workshops. These events will showcase the diverse intangible cultural heritage of Gansu and allow attendees “to experience the Longyuan culture and the charm of the Silk Road.”
From this Sunday to July 13, the Macao Museum will host the exhibition of the “2025 Genesis and Spirit – Showcase of Gansu Intangible Cultural Heritage” on its 3rd floor, according to the statement. It will feature 35 representative items of Gansu’s intangible cultural heritage, including Dunhuang painted sculptures, Gannan Tibetan thangka, and shadow play.
The statement added that the stage performances will take place this Sunday at 4:30 p.m. and on June 16 at 7:30 p.m. in Macau’s main square, Largo do Senado, and Iao Hon Market Park. Performances will include Hua’er folk songs and Kongtong School* martial arts.
In addition, the series will include handicraft demonstrations and experiential workshops led by cultural inheritors. This Saturday and Sunday, workshops such as “Shandan Pyrography,” “Hezhou Egg Carving,” “Lanzhou Gourd Carving,” and “Straw Painting” will be hosted at Zheng Guanying Memorial Museum and Xian Xinghai Memorial Museum, the statement said.
