Hong Kong-American stand-up comedian and actor Jimmy O. Yang is slated to perform at the 2,500 seat Broadway Theatre at Broadway Macau in Cotai from July 4-6, integrated resort operator Galaxy Macau announced in a statement yesterday.
The three-day Macau show, titled “Galaxy Macau Presents: Jimmy O. Yang Live in Macau”, will come after sold-out shows in Hong Kong, his birthplace, that are scheduled to be held from this Friday through Sunday at the Hong Kong Coliseum.
His act, according to the Galaxy Macau statement, features a combination of “sharp cultural observations, Asian-American identity, and immigrant experiences”.
O Yang was born Au Yeung Man Sing to Shanghainese parents, later emigrating from Hong Kong to the US when he was 13. Aside from stand-up comedy, Yang has played various roles in TV shows and films, being known as Jian-Yang in the HBO comedy series “Silicon Valley”, as well as in films like “Crazy Rich Asians” in 2018 and the 2021 Netflix romantic comedy “Love Hard”, where he was one of the leads.
The Galaxy Macau statement noted that O. Yang also has viral stand-up clips on YouTube, where his channel boasts over two million subscribers. His most viewed video has garnered over 20 million views.
Moreover, Yang, according to his website, is a writer and producer, while he has also authored “How to American: An Immigrant’s Guide to Disappointing Your Parents” released in 2018.
Tickets are priced between 480 patacas and 880 patacas, with general tickets to go on sale from 11 a.m. this Friday. More details are available on www.galaxyticketing.com.
