Due to the prevailing trend of artificial intelligence (AI) and with the aim to enhance Macau’s opportunities in the development of the Greater Bay Area (GBA), the Macau Association for the Promotion of Science & Technology (MAPST) held the “Macau Enterprise Digital Transformation Seminar” yesterday.

By introducing various applications of AI, the one-day event aimed to encourage local businesses to strengthen their digital adoption.

The 7-hour seminar, held at the Macau Science Centre (MSC) in Nape, featured a keynote speech, technology demos, hands-on exhibitions, and tailored business matchmaking sessions to address participants’ needs.

During the seminar, MAPST President, MSC Curator Sio Hon Pan said that as a World Centre of Tourism and Leisure under the “One Country, Two Systems” policy, Macau boasts unique geographical advantages and distinctive consumer market characteristics. In recent years, with the support of the central and local governments, the city’s e-commerce and live-streaming industries have gradually flourished.

Sio pointed out that leveraging the “Dual Circulation”* development paradigm, Macau has demonstrated remarkable potential.

“We are pleased to observe growing consensus among stakeholders, with an increasing number of enterprises exploring AI applications in smart recommendations, precision marketing, cross-border supply chains, and other innovative domains,” Sio said.

Ping Xiaoli, senior director of Baidu and general manager of Baidu E-Commerce**, delivered the seminar’s keynote speech, discussing how Baidu’s intelligent e-commerce solutions can pioneer new pathways for Macau’s economic diversification.

Ping said that in response to Macau’s unique economic structure and the challenges local businesses face in expanding into the mainland market, Baidu has specially developed an end-to-end e-commerce solution tailored for Macau merchants. This solution directly addresses the dual barriers of “regional disparities” and “ecosystem differences,” Ping said.

Ping also pointed out that Baidu has launched an end-to-end digital commerce solution featuring its “Huiboxing” AI avatar live streaming platform, which leverages four core technological capabilities: intelligent script generation, multimodal fusion, autonomous decision-making, and multi-agent coordination.

Ping said that “Huiboxing” is specifically designed to bridge Macau’s specialty industries with mainland China’s consumer markets.

According to UK-based Technology Magazine, one of Baidu’s standout innovations is its Huiboxing platform, which enables users to create personalised digital avatars from videos as short as two minutes.

*Dual Circulation is a strategic economic development model proposed by the Chinese government, which emphasises the simultaneous development of both domestic and international economic cycles, with the domestic cycle as the mainstay. The core idea is to leverage China’s vast domestic market to drive economic growth while continuing to engage with the global economy to achieve mutual benefits. – DeepSeek
