The three-day 16th International Infrastructure Investment and Construction Forum (IIICF) & Exhibition, which ended yesterday, facilitated the signing of 31 cooperation agreements, with a total value of US$10.1 billion (81.6 billion patacas), the forum’s organisers, announced at a press conference yesterday afternoon.
The three-day forum, co-organised by the Macau Commerce and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) and the China International Contractors Association (CHINCA), was held at Hall D of The Venetian Macao Cotai Expo.
CHINCA Chairman Fang Qiuchen said in a speech during the press conference that this year’s forum facilitated the signing of 31 cooperation agreements involving private enterprises and government entities from 22 countries and regions, covering a wide range of areas such as transportation, construction, and new energy, with a total value of US$10.1 billion, adding that more than 250 activities were held during the event, including 200 business meetings and matching sessions.
Fang added that more than 3,500 professionals from over 70 countries and regions, including Angola, Cabo Verde, Mozambique and other Portuguese-speaking countries, comprising nearly 70 officials with the rank of vice-minister and above, attended the forum, which set an all-time record.
Fang noted that the 16th IIICF featured the debut of 30 technologies and products, including eight world premieres from 11 Fortune Global 500 companies, ENR 250 (Engineering News-Record’s Top 250 International Contractors), aimed at further expanding the forum’s professional influence and practical impact, enhancing Macau’s reputation as a “global metropolis”.
IPIM President Vincent U U Sang pointed out that the cooperation agreements were signed between mainland Chinese enterprises and Portuguese-speaking countries including Brazil, Cabo Verde and Mozambique, as well as between local and mainland Chinese enterprises, adding that over 250 events were held during the forum, including more than 200 business-matching sessions, which highlighted Macau’s role as a “pivotal platform”.
