The upcoming 2nd Macao International Children’s Arts Festival is slated to be held between July and August, featuring 49 performances and activities in over 1,000 sessions, Cultural Affairs Bureau president Deland Leong Wai Man announced in a press conference yesterday.
The press conference for the 2nd Macao International Children’s Arts Festival was held yesterday at the Macau Cultural Centre (CCM) in Nape.
Leong pointed out that the festival is divided into nine sections, featuring 49 performances and activities with more than 1,000 sessions, including stage performances, interactive exhibitions, a film festival, music camps, art camps, creative workshops, a Children’s Fun Book House and an arts carnival event, aiming to encourage families to get close to the arts in an immersive and participatory way and enjoy wonderful moments, creating warm and unforgettable memories, adding that this year’s festival will have the Macau Cultural Centre as its main venue.
Leong told reporters that that the bureau’s allocated budget was 20 million patacas for this year’s festival, which represented a reduction of about 9 million patacas compared to last year, due to the fact that children’s art exhibitions have been scaled down as this year coincides with the “Art Macau: Macau International Art Biennale.” Moreover, the musical productions received full sponsorship from Macau’s integrated resort operators, thereby reducing the bureau’s expenditure, she said.
According to the IC statement, the festival will show the legendary folk tale “Cinderella” by the Ballet of the National Theatre Brno from the Czech Republic, the theatre play for babies “Bebeethoven” by the Full Moon Theatre from Portugal, the multimedia play “Poli Pop” by the Brush Theatre from South Korea and others, showcased in accordance with the programme of the “Culture City of East Asia 2025”.
In additional, the “Disney the Magic Box Musical”, presented by integrated resort operator Sands, not only features a selection of classics and new Disney songs, but also combines “magnificent dance, ingenious puppetry and stunning visual effects, presenting well-known touching stories”, according to the statement.
According to the IC statement, due to public demand, additional performances will be shown, including “Chong Chong’s Hamsters”, “Bebeethoven”, “Poli Pop”, “Family Art Camp” and “Children’s Creative Camp”, as well as the “Little Chinese Music Troupe” music camp will see tickets on sale from 10 a.m. on Sunday through “Enjoy Macao Ticketing” outlets, 24-hour hotline 2840 0555 and online booking ticketingenjoymacao.mo.
