Miguel Quental’s ongoing third solo exhibition presents over 30 photos that he took in Goa* during a recent visit, hoping to invite viewers to visit the state on the southwestern coast of India within the Konkan region and see its beauty for themselves.

Titled “Colours of Goa” and held at the Creative Macau gallery in Nape, the exhibition, which is now in its final five days, comprises a total of 34 images that were all taken this year. From colourful homes to vibrant streets and buildings to pictures of everyday objects and motifs, Quental captured it all through his camera.

“Goa, once the capital of an empire, has bequeathed us a rich heritage of vibrant colours, aromas, flavours, images and beliefs that transcend our imagination”, according to a statement from Creative Macau, which added that a search for this legacy prompted Quental, a lawyer and entrepreneur who has lived in Macau since 2002, to head there.

“I’m sharing some of the many images I took there, but I’m aware that much more remains to be discovered”, Quental said in the statement, noting he hopes that the exhibition can also serve as an invitation for others to visit soon. “Goa deserves it”, he concluded.

Exhibitiongoers may admire the works until Saturday, with the gallery open from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. during the period. It is located on the ground floor of the Macau Cultural Centre (CCM) in Nape.

*Goa is India’s smallest state by area and fourth-smallest by population, according to Wikipedia, with AI chatbot Poe also noting that it has a rich cultural heritage with a blend of Indian and Portuguese cultures, evident in its architecture, cuisine, and festivals. While Konkani, the official language, and English are widely spoken, Portuguese is still spoken in some parts of Goa by a small community of people.
