Intricate pieces drawn in pen and ink are on display at the Rui Cunha Foundation (FRC) gallery until Saturday for the solo exhibition “Universo em Milímetros” (“Universe in Millimetres”), where members of the public can admire a total of 245 works.

Created by local artist Chan Hin Chi (陳軒志), who is a legal practitioner dedicated to the study of Portuguese-Chinese language culture, along with legal research and teaching, the exhibition features 56 sketches and 189 postcard-sized pieces, according to a recent FRC statement.

Exhibitiongoers will find scenes of Macau such as its landmarks, streets and even some events, along with sketches of spots he documented during his travels from 2017 to 2025. Among them are landscapes of places in the Chinese mainland such as Beijing, Chengdu, Doumen, Foshan and Harbin, as well as Taiwan, apart from foreign countries such as Japan, France, Portugal, Spain and Switzerland, the statement said.

Each piece contains details from smaller postcard sized works to larger pieces, some of which also incorporate watercolour strokes. One will find pieces ranging from vibrant and colourful sketches to those that incorporate fewer colours or are in black and white.

The statement added that Chan was born abroad and moved to Macau with his family as a child, having started drawing at a young age. He is fluent in Cantonese, Putonghua, Portuguese and English, the statement said.

Exhibitiongoers may view the works from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. today and tomorrow, as well as from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday. More details can also be found on the gallery’s website and Facebook page.
