The Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) said in a statement on Friday afternoon that 18.9-litre potable water containers from another local manufacturer have been found to exceed official bacteria standards.

It was the third case of its kind within a month.

The first case was confirmed on June 20, affecting the local O’Sun brand.

This second case concerned the local NK brand’s 18.9-litre potable bottled water containers which were confirmed on Tuesday to exceed official bacterial standards.

The statement on Friday afternoon said that the bureau on Friday tested samples from 18.9-litre potable water containers of the PURITY brand from local bottler Fonte Vida Companhia Lda (aka生命之泉) at Veng Hou Industrial Building on Rua dos Pescadores, which were confirmed to have excessive levels of Coliform bacteria and Pseudomonas aeruginosa.*

The problematic product announced on Friday was the local PURITY brand’s 18.9-litre potable water containers, which were not supplied to hospitals or schools, having been retailed only at three small convenience stores. All remaining stock has now been recalled and removed from shelves, the statement said.
