According to the spokesperson, the locals are aged between 30 and 62. They were cheated out of 40,000 yuan, 10,000 yuan and 90,000 yuan respectively. The spokesperson said that the 15-member gang which defrauded the three victims was headed by a mainland couple.
The spokesperson said the eight gangs had 450 members in total. They were involved in over 800 alleged phone scam cases, amassing ill-gotten gains of about 10 million yuan.
