The Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC) held an opening ceremony yesterday titled “2025 Arts and Culture for Macau Youth Project”, aiming to cultivate talents in cultural and artistic fields.

The one-day ceremony was held at the Macau Cultural Centre (CCM) in Zape.

During the ceremony, IC President Deland Leong Wai Man said that since 2023 the project has successfully trained two cohorts of dedicated “Cultural Ambassadors” through an immersive curriculum featuring interactive workshops, field studies at historical sites, and hands-on creative practica in guided storytelling and theatre production, all designed to deepen participants’ understanding of Chinese culture and Macau’s local heritage while cultivating their aesthetic sensibilities, creative potential, and cultural confidence.

Leung said she hoped that all participants would study diligently, reflect critically, explore courageously, and practise actively throughout the three-year programme, ultimately growing into future pillars of civil society who combine cultural refinement with social responsibility, thereby contributing their youthful energy to Macau’s cultural advancement and the preservation of the nation’s cultural heritage.

According to an IC statement, the project has selected 35 junior high students for a three-year phased training initiative, where participants who complete the foundational curriculum will be certified as “Cultural Ambassadors” and become eligible for advanced courses and diverse arts practica, ultimately positioning them as vanguards to advance Macau’s arts scene through hands-on, multi-perspective cultural engagement.
