Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture Alexis Tam Chon Weng pledged yesterday that the government will encourage more government entities and private companies to set up breastfeeding rooms on their premises.

Tam made the remarks yesterday when replying to an oral interpellation by directly-elected lawmaker Wong Kit Cheng during a plenary session of the legislature.

In her interpellation, Wong pointed out that the government in recent years has been promoting the setting-up of public breastfeeding rooms on government premises, adding that a breastfeeding room was set up at the Financial Services Bureau (DSF) Building last month.
