Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) Deputy Director Cheng Wai Tong told reporters yesterday that they would co-host a food and creative market with the Association of Returned Overseas Chinese Macau in Zape next Friday.

Cheng said the market will launch next Friday August 15, for a 10-day run, featuring food and creative market stalls in pedestrian areas such as Rua de Pequim, Rua de Cantão and Rua de Xangai in Zape. He said that the preparations were currently in full swing with public organisations, and details will be announced shortly. The primary goal is to showcase the district’s local character, attracting visitors to explore and spend, thereby supporting neighbourhood small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

According to Cheng, with the theme “Ruminate,” the market blends diverse cultural elements, featuring food stalls and creative market booths that showcase local specialties from Zape SMEs alongside Southeast Asian delicacies from the “Three Lamps” area.

He also said, by combining these regional flavours, it creates a unique scene that celebrates both local character and international tastes. The market aims to attract visitors to explore and spend in Zape, revitalising the area’s commercial energy, he said.

Cheng pointed out that the market is jointly organised by the Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) and the Association of Returned Overseas Chinese Macau, with MGTO allocating a budget of 3.6 million patacas and the association contributing 1 million patacas.
