The main exhibition for Art Macao: Macao International Art Biennale 2025 explores identity and global complexity through 80 contemporary mixed-media works by 46 artists from 13 countries and regions, according to the official Art Macao website.
According to the website, the exhibition centres on the question “Hey, what brings you here?" using it as a lens to examine Macau’s local history and memory. This thematic approach also raises deeper reflections such as “Who am I? Where do I come from? Where am I going?”, offering visitors a path of introspection.
The website noted that a total of 46 artists from countries and regions including mainland China, Macau, Hong Kong, China’s Taiwan region, Germany, India, Iran, Japan, Mexico, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal Singapore, South Korea, the United Kingdom and the United States contributed to the exhibition. The website highlighted that their works span various media, including paintings, sculptures, installations, videos, photography, and artificial intelligence (AI).
The website stated that the curator Feng Boyi, has designed the exhibition layout with specially titled zones, incorporating unconventional areas and spatial intersections. The arrangement aims to form a tunnel that transcends time and borders, allowing the audience to engage with a diverse range of global and local cultural expressions.
The exhibits for “Hey, what brings you here?” are on display at the Macao Museum of Art (MAM) in the Cultural Centre (CCM) in Nape until October 19, with free admission from Tuesday to Sunday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
