In addition to the Premier League and FA Cup, the company already broadcasts a number of other top-tier football and basketball matches, while producing original sports programmes and cross-platform content for audiences in Macau and surrounding regions, according to a statement released on the sidelines of the press conference.
At the press conference, M Plus announced that it has secured exclusive Macau broadcasting rights for the English Premier League and FA Cup for the next three seasons. The company also revealed a partnership with Macau Cable TV, aiming to deliver more diverse and higher-quality sports content to local viewers.
M Plus Sports Media Company Limited's Strategic Partnerships Vice President, Alan Yung (容振聲) told the press conference that the English Premier League and the FA Cup, an annual knockout football competition in domestic English football, as the most popular football competitions globally, have long captivated Macau fans.
M Plus will broadcast the next three seasons of these two competitions via its M Plus app, Yung said, adding that the live matches will offer commentary in English and Cantonese.
Yung also said that M Plus and Macau Cable TV have strengthened their long-standing collaboration by establishing a strategic partnership. From now on, Macau Cable TV channels 34, 35, 36 and 37 will provide 24/7 coverage of football and other kinds of matches, featuring professional commentary in English and Cantonese.
The new Premier League season will start on August 16.
Meanwhile, Yung also said that M Plus will continue to show live football matches of Germany’s DFB-Pokal, Spain’s LaLiga, Italy’s Serie A, the Emirates’ FA Cup and Australia’s A League, aside from seven basketball league matches including NBA.
No financial details of the new partnership arrangement were announced during the press conference.
Macau Cable TV Limited Chief Commercial Officer John Chiang (鄭光耀) conveyed his company’s congratulations to M Plus and said it was a great honour to join the new partnership.
Chiang noted that 2025 marks Macau Cable TV’s 25th anniversary of operating in Macau, having consistently covered both local and international football matches since its launch.
Chiang underlined that his company has already been in a five-year partnership with M Plus, jointly broadcasting over 1,000 matches of various kinds of games annually.
Macau SLOT Company Limited Chief Betting Officer Harry Lan (藍逢海) also said that it was a great honour to be partnering with M Plus, describing it as a collaboration of strategic significance.
Lan emphasised that Macau SLOT, as a local enterprise, has always been committed to giving back to the community by actively supporting the healthy development of Macau’s industries. Lan also said he believes that enhancing Macau’s media and entertainment sectors is vital to improving residents’ quality of life and cultural well-being.
