The local observatory announced on a statement on its website last night that Macau is expected to be affected by heavy showers and thunderstorms today and tomorrow.
According to the Meteorological and Geophysical Bureau (SMG) statement, a low-pressure area located west of Luzon in the Philippines is expected to develop into a tropical cyclone within 800 kilometres of the city over the period, adding that it is anticipated to move towards the waters near Hainan Island later this week.
The thunderstorms and heavy showers over these two days are expected due to the combined influence of the low-pressure area and high-pressure ridge.
The statement said that the bureau is monitoring the developing situation, reminding members of the public to pay attention to updates and adjust travel plans accordingly.
