A local man was arrested on Monday for stabbing a mainlander with a cutter, Public Security Police (PSP) spokeswoman Cheong Im Sim said during a regular press conference yesterday.
Cheong identified the suspect as a 60-year-old local resident surnamed Choi who told police that he works as a porter.
According to Cheong, the Public Security Police received a report at 10:32 a.m. on Monday about a physical attack in Rua Um do Bairro Vá Tai a little earlier.
Cheong said that PSP officers quickly arrived at the scene where they found the victim and the suspect, Choi.
Under questing, Cheong said that the injured man, a non-resident-worker (NRW) from the Chinese mainland, told police that at around 10 a.m. he and Choi got into an argument after bumping into each other. Choi, unhappy about the incident, then injured the mainlander by stabbing him with a cutter on the left side of his back, Cheong said.
Choi has been transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP) where he is facing charges of physically attacking a person and unjustified possession of a weapon.
