A local man was arrested on Friday for driving despite his driving ban, Public Security Police (PSP) spokeswoman Lai In Hong said during a regular press conference yesterday.
Lai identified the suspect as a male surnamed Ho who is in his fifties and works as a security guard.
According to Lai, PSP officers discovered an illegally-parked motorcycle on the pavement of Avenida da Harmonia (和諧大馬路) last Monday. The officers issued a citation and discovered that the rider of the motorcycle, Ho, was banned from driving from July 8, 2024 until July 7, 2026 due to a drunk-driving offence.
Lai noted that Ho went to the PSP Traffic Department on Friday to pay the fine for illegal parking. Under questioning, Ho admitted to driving despite the ban. The police confirmed that Ho had also driven on August 22 and on Friday when he went to the Traffic Department to the pay the fine.
Ho has been transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP), facing a charge of riding a motorcycle during his driving ban.
