Macau recorded this year’s 12th imported case of chikungunya fever yesterday, the Health Bureau (SSM) announced in a statement last night.
According to the statement, the patient is a 77-year-old local woman who lives in Mei Sin Building on Rua da Tercena.
The woman visited Jiangmen City between August 24 and 31. After returning to Macau, the statement said, she came down with a fever and joint pain of her arms and legs on Tuesday but she did not seek treatment at that time.
However, the statement said, her symptoms worsened yesterday so she sought treatment at the Inner Harbour Health Centre, which is located near the Ponte 16 casino-hotel. A blood test later confirmed her to be infected with chikungunya fever
The woman was in a stable condition at the time of last night’s statement, which said that she has been hospitalised for treatment.
However, the statement did not mention to which hospital she has been admitted.
