A 24-year-old woman from the mainland sustained serious injuries to her right leg after she was hit by a public bus in Rua do Almirante Sérgio shortly after 6 a.m. yesterday, according to the Fire Services Bureau (CB).
The bus on the No.1 route hit the woman near the junction of Rua do Almirante Sergio and Rua de Joao Lecaros when it was travelling from Barra towards the Barrier Gate border checkpoint. The victim lost a large amount of blood and was rushed to the private Kiang Wu Hospital, the Fire Services Bureau said.The victim’s condition was reportedly stable after emergency treatment, the hospital said last night. A statement by the hospital denied news reports earlier yesterday which claimed that the woman’s right leg needed to be amputated.
