The Economic and Technological Development Bureau (DSEDT) announced yesterday that it will launch a subsidy programme next month aiming to encourage local small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) offering unique products or quality services or those willing to innovate their operations to launch online marketing campaigns.

The programme was announced during a press conference at the bureau’s headquarters in Nam Van.

The first round of applications will run between October 21 and December 2. Each round will have 100 places.

DSEDT officials underlined during the press conference that online marketing campaigns have become ever more necessary for local SMEs in order to meet the consumption habits of those in the new generation.

Each beneficiary will receive a subsidy of up to 100,000 patacas, or 60 percent of the cost required for the beneficiary to launch and carry out their online marketing campaigns.

Similar to various other subsidies provided by the bureau for local SMEs, only locally established companies that employ no more than 100 employees will be eligible for this new subsidy.

Meanwhile, the bureau also announced yesterday that the Macau Chain Stores and Franchise Association will launch a new programme recognising time-honoured local old shops, since it was first launched in 2019.

In the 2019 round, a total of 12 shops were officially recognised as time-honoured shops.

The association’s implementation of the programme will continue to be supported by the bureau.
