The existing structure of Sai Van Bridge is strong enough to hold the Light Rail Transit (LRT) for the future section connecting Taipa with Barra on the southernmost tip of the peninsula, Ho Ion Sang, who heads the legislature’s Follow-up Committee for Land and Public Concession Affairs, quoted government officials as saying yesterday.

“Barra” is Portuguese for “harbour entrance”.

Ho briefed reporters after a closed-door meeting of the committee. The committee yesterday asked the officials, including Secretary for Transport and Public Works Raimundo do Rosario and Transport Infrastructure Office (GIT) Director Ho Cheong Kei, to brief the committee on the progress of the construction of the LRT Taipa section.
