The Macau Government Tourism Office (MGTO) announced in a statement on Wednesday that the cultural tourism project POP MART MACAO CITYWALK, jointly organised with POP MART between June and September, attracted more than 720,000 visitors and generated significant local consumption.
From June 6 to September 21, installations of popular POP MART characters “Baby Molly”, “Crybaby”, “Dimoo” and Labubu were displayed at Calçada da Igreja de São Lázaro, Largo de Camões, Largo de Santo Agostinho, and Vila da Taipa Historical Centre Archway, drawing fans and tourists for sightseeing and photos, the statement said.
According to MGTO, preliminary statistics indicate that the project brought 723,000 people to the four districts and the POP STATION, with around 45,000 visitors obtaining exclusive postcards.
The project also featured a four-phase lucky draw linked to six e-wallets, including MPay, Alipay (Macau), Alipay (Chinese mainland), AlipayHK, True Money (Thailand), and Touch ’n Go eWallet (Malaysia), the statement said, adding that 1.63 million users entered the draw, generating 3.64 billion patacas in transaction value and 2.77 million entries overall.
MGTO and POP MART promoted the initiative through local TV, outdoor advertisements, and social media platforms such as WeChat, Douyin, Xiaohongshu, TikTok, Facebook and Instagram, the statement noted, and more than 450 posts and short videos from Chinese mainland influencers helped the project achieve over 90 million online impressions.
Although the event concluded in September, winners can continue to redeem limited-edition gifts at the POP MART store in YOHO Treasure Island Resorts World Hotel within 30 days of notification, the statement said, adding that the project successfully blended “tourism + IP,” boosting neighbourhood visits, travel photography, and local spending.
