A 54-year-old male mainlander surnamed Ye was arrested on Tuesday for stealing HK$120,000 cash from a restaurant customer, a Judiciary Police (PJ) spokesperson said during a special press conference yesterday.

The spokesperson said the victim reported the case on March 25, saying that HK$120,000 had been stolen from his coat pocket when he was eating at a restaurant in Nape earlier that day.

The police checked the restaurant’s surveillance camera footage and saw a man looking around the restaurant before sitting down at a table behind the victim.
