The Macau Government Tourism Office (MGTO) announced yesterday that the finale of the 33rd Macao International Fireworks Display Contest has been rescheduled to Saturday, October 11, following delays caused by Typhoon Matmo.

Initially planned for last night, according to a statement by MGTO, the two last firework shows –by the British and Brazilian teams – were postponed due to the typhoon’s impact on installation and preparatory work required to be done in advance.

The rescheduled shows will take place this Saturday at 9 p.m. and 9:40 p.m., inviting residents and visitors to enjoy the grand finale from various vantage points across the city, the statement said.

Meanwhile, the Fireworks Carnival is slated to be held on the waterfront next to Macao Science Centre from 5:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. on the same day. MGTO said that it has implemented contingency measures for adverse weather during the typhoon season and will continue monitoring forecasts closely.

Any further changes to the event arrangements will be announced promptly to the public, MGTO added.
