Macau Special Olympics chief Hetzer Siu Yu Hong said yesterday that as there is an overall shortage of therapists for people with disabilities in Macau, the government should lower the bar for hiring non-local therapists.

Siu made the remarks during a press conference about the group’s upcoming events in celebration of its 30th anniversary this year. The press conference took place at the group’s office in Areia Preta.

According to Siu, the equipment for Macau’s disability evaluation system is of international standards, but few local therapists are trained to operate the equipment.
