The Macao Orchestra (OM) and the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC) are presenting the concert programme “Music for Future Music in the Campus” to take music to kindergartens and primary and secondary schools, with the first phase of the campus concert for the 2025-26 concert season having brought music to over 2,000 students at six local schools from October 15 to 17.

According to a recent statement from the bureau, the first phase of the campus concert was themed “The Four Seasons” and had the orchestra, led by Resident Conductor Tony Cheng-Te Yeh, visit Yuet Wah College, Sacred Heart Canossian College (Chinese Section), The International School of Macao (TIS), Escola Sun Wah, St. Joseph Diocesan College No. 5, and Lou Hau High School.

The statement said students were able to watch performances of works by Beethoven, Delius, Tchaikovsky, Prokofiev and Copland, among other renowned composers.

The concert programme is one of the orchestra’s “key educational projects”, the statement said, organising performances with “appropriate arrangements of repertoire “for students of different age groups, and performing them in various ensemble sizes.

The statement noted: “Through vivid explanations and fun interactive ways, the programme allows students to learn the rich connotations of classical music in a relaxed environment, thereby enhancing their interest and their ability to appreciate classical music”, welcoming schools to participate as they continue to stage the concerts.
