“A Racing Legacy – SJM Theodore Racing Interactive Exhibition” was inaugurated at the Macau Grand Prix (MGP) Museum in Zape yesterday afternoon, and will be on display until February 23.
Organised by the Macau Government Tourism Office (MGTO) in conjunction with SJM Resorts, the three-zone exhibition is showcased ahead of the 72nd Macau Grand Prix, which takes place from Thursday to Sunday. Museumgoers visiting the exhibition will be able to learn about the history of SJM Theodore Racing, along with the key roles and the necessary skills within the team and the journey of becoming a professional racing car driver.
Attending yesterday’s opening ceremony were MGTO Deputy Director Jennifer Si Tou; Senior Vice President of Marketing and Communications, Corporate Brand and Marketing of SJM Resorts Porcia Leung (梁珮兒); as well as SJM Theodore PREMA Racing team’s Freddie Slater from the UK and Rashid Al Dhaheri from Abu Dhabi, both of whom will be competing in the 15-lap FIA FR World Cup in this year’s MGP.
In her speech, Si said that members of the public can take the opportunity to immerse themselves in the Macau Grand Prix ahead of the races, while the exhibition will also remain on over “major festive holidays” throughout its run.
She added: “The Macau Government Tourism Office hopes to unleash the momentum of spectacular events for deeper integration across tourism plus sport, supporting the SAR government in implementing the development strategies for appropriate economic diversification”.
Racers Slater and Dhaheri, both 17, also discussed tackling the Guia Circuit, their thoughts on the exhibition, as well as what inspired them to start racing. They also signed autographs for attendees of yesterday’s ceremony, a number of which were local students.
One can visit the museum from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. from Wednesday to Monday, it is closed on Tuesdays.
