A mainland woman was cheated out of 150,000 yuan (about 170,000 patacas) last week by a man who claimed he had a friend who had developed a software which could help its users win at baccarat, a Judiciary Police (PJ) spokesperson said yesterday.

According to the spokesperson, the victim said she met the suspect in a casino late last month when he told her about the software.

Starting on April 12, the suspect and the victim gambled together many times in casinos in the peninsula and Cotai, the spokesperson said. The victim also told the police that when the suspect was gambling, he kept looking at his mobile phone.
