MGM MACAU TENNIS MASTERS confirms teams

The full team line-up has been confirmed for the two-day MGM MACAU TENNIS MASTERS, with World No. 14 Alejandro Davidovich Fokina also confirmed to join the upcoming event.

Set to take place from December 27 to 28, the teams will be led by two female tennis legends: China’s Li Na and Conchita Martínez from Spain. According to a statement yesterday from integrated resort operator MGM that confirmed the line-up and Fokina’s presence, Team Li Na will comprise players Jack Draper, Jerry Shang Juncheng and Alexandra Eala, while Team Conchita Martínez features Fokina, Jakub Menšík, and Mirra Andreeva.

Tournament Director and MARI Group Senior Vice President of Tennis Events Luíz Carvalho was quoted by the statement as saying: “We’re delighted to complete this year’s exceptional line-up with Alejandro Davidovich Fokina”

He added: “We’re also proud to have Wu Yibing – fresh from winning gold at China’s National Games [co-hosted by Macau] – joining us as our alternate player.”

Starting at 2 p.m. on both days with the Captains Challenge, day one will have two men’s singles matches and a mixed doubles, while day two features a women’s singles and two men’s singles.

Aside from the tournament, the statement said that the two-day event will also feature other activities such as interactive fan engagements, autograph sessions, and lucky draws.

There will also be an “intergenerational dialogue” scheduled for December 27 featuring tennis legends Li and Martínez, along with rising stars Andreeva and Eala. It will be hosted by Hong Kong Olympian Robyn Lamsam, the statement noted, and will take place at 11 a.m. at The Fantasy Box in MGM MACAU.

The session will be themed “Professional Passion and Life Beyond the Court” where the athletes can “share their untold personal stories, reflect on the evolution of tennis, and explore women’s influence in sports”, according to the statement.

Tickets prices range from 230 patacas to 580 patacas for VIP seats. Two-day passes start from 360 patacas up to 1,000 patacas for VIP seating.
