Watch imports rise 43 pct in Q1

Macau’s imports of watches – one of tourists’ most popular shopping items – rose by 43.5 percent year on year to 1.3 billion patacas in the first quarter, the Statistics and Census Bureau (DSEC) has announced.

In March, watch imports leapt by 64.8 percent to 483 million patacas.

Gold jewellery imports grew by 25.9 percent to 1.64 billion patacas in the first three months.

In March, imports of gold jewellery rose 47.1 percent to 536 million patacas.
