According to a statement by the Identification Services Bureau (DSI) yesterday, the Royal Government of Cambodia will grant visa-free entry to Chinese nationals, including Macau Special Administrative Region (MSAR) passport holders.
Under the arrangement announced by Cambodia’s Ministry of Tourism, Chinese citizens holding passports of the People’s Republic of China – including MSAR passport holders – will be allowed to enter Cambodia without a visa for up to two weeks per single entry during the four-month trial period, the statement noted.
According to a separate statement by Cambodia on Friday, the measure will also include Hong Kong SAR passport holders but exclude those holding passports issued by Taiwan.
Cambodia is known to be a staunch defender of the “One China” policy, according to which Taiwan is a Chinese region.
Travellers will not be required to apply for a visa in advance or pay visa fees, provided they complete the E-Arrival Card before entering the country, the statement noted, adding that the visa-free measure will be effective from June 15 through October 15 and is introduced on a trial basis.
The statement added that currently, MSAR passport holders may enter Cambodia by applying for a visa on arrival or an electronic visa. The bureau has advised residents to refer to its official website at https://www.dsi.gov.mo/download/visa_free_list_e.pdf for the latest information on visa-free access and visa-on-arrival arrangements applicable to Macau travel document holders.
