Germany’s Mercedes-Benz held a launch event at its showroom on Avenida Dr. Sun Yat Sen in Taipa for its new CLA fully electric vehicle in Macau on Friday.
According to the Zung Fu Motors (Macau) Ltd. Sales Consultant James Chan, the new CLA vehicle is built on the all-new Mercedes-Benz Modular Architecture (MMA) platform, its most notable feature being a battery range of up to 792 kilometres. It supports Direct Current (DC) fast charging with a maximum power of 320kW, enabling a range replenishment of around 325 kilometres after just 10 minutes of charging, according to Chan.
Chan also said the new CLA features a glowing grille mask, LED taillight design, flush door handles, achieving a remarkably low drag coefficient of just 0.21. The car is equipped with the latest Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX) system, and an optional screen is available for the front passenger seat. In terms of performance, it boasts a rear-wheel-drive dual-motor setup with a maximum output of 350 horsepower, enabling a top speed of 210 kilometres per hour.
Friday’s launch comprised three versions, CLA250+ (HK$399,000), CLA250+ AMG Line (HK$ 417,000), and CLA350 4Matic AMG Line (HK$445,000).
Mercedes-Benz Hong Kong Limited Communications & Marketing Manager Samson Leung (梁家強) told reporters that a limited number of the new vehicles have already arrived in Macau. If the configurations match, the earliest deliveries can be completed within one to two months, Leung said.
Leung expressed strong confidence in the Macau market, emphasising that comprehensive after-sales service and ongoing technological innovation are the company’s key brand strengths, which plans to launch multiple new vehicle models in Macau this year, Leung said.
