The Macau Grand Prix Museum (MGPM), run by the Macau Government Tourism Office (MGTO), will roll out a string of festive activities to mark Chinese New Year (CNY), including interactive booths where visitors can create motorsport-themed spring couplets and lai sees (red envelops), according to an MGTO statement yesterday.

The statement noted that the programme, titled “Full Horsepower Fortune Boost,” will take place in the basement of the museum in Zape and feature two DIY stations: the “Spring Couplets Rolling Station” and the “Red Envelopes Rolling Station” from February 17, the first day of the Year of the Horse, to February 23, the seventh day of the Chinese New Year.

Museumgoers can use rubbing tools and roller stamps to print blessing messages and racing-themed designs onto festive items to take home, the statement said.

The statement noted that the museum will remain open as usual throughout the Chinese New Year holiday, welcoming visitors daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., including February 17, the first day of the Spring Festival (aka Chinese New Year), under a special arrangement.

Meanwhile, two themed exhibitions will also continue during the festive period, according to the statement.

The “Macao Grand Prix Museum X The Pirelli Legend” racing tyres exhibition will run until March 2, while the “A Racing Legacy – SJM Theodore Racing Interactive Exhibition” will remain on display until February 23, the statement said.

Moreover, the museum gift shop will launch a promotional sale from now until March 31, aiming to offer special gift bags and 30 percent discounts on selected items, the statement added.

The statement said the museum will continue enhancing its interactive facilities and exhibitions in order to preserve Macau Grand Prix (MGP) culture while striving to expand the city’s “tourism +” offerings during major festivities.
