More integrated resort (IR) operators have announced extended paid maternity and paternity leaves in respective statements between Friday and Saturday.
The extended leave took effect from yesterday onwards, each noting that, for eligible staff, paid maternity leave has increased from 70 days to 90 days and paid paternity leave from five to seven days.

GEG’s statement on Saturday noted that under the new policy, female staff who have completed at least one year of continuous service before childbirth are entitled to 90 days of paid maternity leave, while male staff’s paid paternity leave is extended from five days to seven days, adding that the company recognises staff as valuable assets.
“These enhancements aim to provide team members with more time to rest and bond with their families while welcoming their newborns during this important stage of life”, according to the statement.
MGM
Integrated resort operator MGM said in their statement that the company believes that staff’s “family happiness is a vital foundation for individual well-being, workplace engagement, and sustainable development.”
MGM Human Resources Executive Vice President Wendy Yu (余婉瑩) was quoted by the statement as saying: “MGM continues to cultivate a supportive, caring, and family-friendly workplace for our team members, while actively responding to and supporting the SAR Government’s fertility-related policies through practical initiatives. The enhancement of paid maternity and paternity leave fully demonstrates the company’s dedication and commitment to employee well-being and its further contribution to building a fertility-friendly environment in Macau”
Melco
Melco Resorts & Entertainment said in their statement that through the extended maternity and paternity leave, the company aims to “further strengthen its family-friendly workplace policies”.
Melco Chairman and CEO Lawrence Ho Yau-lung was quoted by the statement as saying: “At Melco, our colleagues are our most important asset. We are deeply committed to providing an exceptional working environment, and we are pleased to offer these enhanced maternity and paternity benefits as part of our core family-friendly policies. We will continue striving to be an employer of choice by supporting our colleagues in achieving a healthy balance between work, family, and personal wellbeing.”
Wynn Macau Limited
Multiple media outlets noted that while Wynn Macau Limited will be extending their paid maternity leave from 70 to 90 days, their paid paternity leave had previously been increased for male staff to seven days back in 2018.
According to an article by Macau Business on Friday, the company said that strengthening maternity and paternity benefits is intended to foster a family-friendly culture and help staff balance work and family life.
