The Macao University of Tourism (UTM) noted in a statement on Saturday that on February 27, UTM and UN Tourism* held a Scholarship Presentation Ceremony at the Taipa campus, celebrating the first scholarship recipient for the Master of Science in Digital Marketing and Analytics programme.
The full tuition waiver scholarship was awarded to Jason Zhang Jiexuan, who achieved the highest semester Grade Point Average (GPA).
UTM signed a partnership agreement with UN Tourism in late 2024, collaborating on the Master of Science in Digital Marketing and Analytics programme from the 2025/2026 academic year, the statement said. Graduates completing it will receive a UTM Master of Science degree and a joint certificate from UN Tourism and UTM.
During her speech at the event, UTM Rector Fanny Vong Chuk Kwan noted that both UN Tourism and UTM have had an over decade-long partnership. She also remarked that she hoped both sides would further expand co-branded programmes in the future and extend them to the Guangdong–Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin.
The event also featured a keynote lecture entitled “Smart Tourism Destinations: Artificial Intelligence and the Future of Tourism Competitiveness” by Antonio López de Ávila, UN Tourism Director of Innovation, Education and Investments.
