‘Mulan’ dance drama shows to take place at Macau Cultural Centre

The dance drama “Mulan” by the award-winning Ningbo Performance & Arts Group will take to the stage at the Macau Cultural Centre’s (CCM) Grand Auditorium on the evenings of March 27 and 28, with tickets now available.

According to a Friday statement by the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC), the production, directed by Zhou Liya and Han Zhen (aka “twin stars of Chinese Dance”), has won many awards including the China Dance Lotus Award and has toured globally. The group, meanwhile, is the recipient of various national awards.

Combining dance, martial arts, drama and technology, the production is about the legendary story of Mulan* and depicts her heroic endeavour. It centres on filial piety, loyalty, courage and love, the statement said.

Meanwhile, quilling** and clay modelling workshops are set to take place for participants aged six and above, with sessions set to be hosted at Lou Kau Mansion. Moreover, at The House of Macao Literature, the “Mulan” Ethnic Dance Costume Dress-Up Experience Workshop will be held for children aged between four and eight years old.

The upcoming shows, scheduled to start at 7:30 p.m. on both nights, are presented as part of the “1st Chinese Culture Performances Season” that has been on since November last year and concludes this month. In that period, the statement said, the performance season presented 37 premium performances, exchanges and outreach activities and reached over 10,000 people.
