A total of 14 illegal workers from the mainland who allegedly worked on the construction site of a residential project, known as “Lote T+T1”, were caught by the police yesterday, a Public Security Police (PSP) spokesperson said.

“Lote” is Portuguese for “plot of land”. “Lote T+T1” is Hong-Kong based Polytec’s new residential project in Areia Preta. Its temporary land concession will expire in July.

The company’s nearby Pearl Horizon residential project has been mothballed since December 2015 after the site’s temporary land concession had expired. The company has taken the government to court over the issue. Dozens of pre-sale buyers have been staging a series of protests to press the government into solving the dispute.
