Melco Resorts & Entertainment has hosted a series of skateboarding workshops for local kids, marking the second consecutive year of the initiative, according to a statement yesterday.
The workshops took place on March 14 and 15 at the Studio City Sk8te Park, coinciding with the “2026 FISE: Battle of the Champions·Macau” event and the “SONDAY SkateFest powered by adidas Skateboarding” competition held at the venue.
The statement by the integrated resort operator said that over 50 beneficiaries participated in the sessions, including children aged 5 to 12 from the Mong Ha Children & Youth Home and Macau Special Olympics (MSO), as well as Melco parent-child participants. Each session included skateboarding instruction led by professional skateboarders, a DIY graffiti workshop, mini games, and complimentary tickets to the FISE skateboarding competition.
According to the statement, to further engage with the local community, the company also donated event tickets to local students, families, and persons with disabilities through partnerships with several associations, including Macao True Goodwill Friend Association, Fuhong Society of Macau, and Macau Autism Association.
Executive Vice President and Chief of Staff to Melco Chairman & CEO Akiko Takahashi was quoted in the statement as saying: “In our commitment to nurturing young talent, we welcome the local community to experience the thrill of skateboarding. Through workshops and a world-class competition, we aim to provide a stimulating environment that encourages youth to pursue their passions and unlock their full potential, whilst also promoting the diversified development of Macau through the experience of wide-reaching sporting and cultural offerings.”
A parent-child participant from Macau Special Olympics expressed gratitude for the experience, noting that the workshops helped showcase skateboarding as a more mainstream activity, according to the statement.
