The 16th Illusion Feather Doujin Culture Festival (IF16) was held at the Fisherman’s Wharf Convention and Exhibition Centre in Nape yesterday, bringing together nearly 100 doujin groups and organisations from Macau, Hong Kong and the Chinese mainland.
Organised by the Macao Illusion Feather Doujin Culture Exchange Association and supported by the Cultural Development Fund (FDC), the event featured over 130 booths showcasing original doujinshi and related creative products.
Doujinshi* are self-published works produced by individuals or small groups outside the mainstream commercial publishing industry.
The programme included a doujin fair, cosplay** exchange activities and stage performances, highlighting the diversity of anime and fan-created culture in the region.
The event invited Japanese voice actors Makoto Koichi and Yura Akari to host fan meetings, autograph sessions and DJ performances.
One of the event’s highlights was the animation sharing session featuring Polly Yeung (楊寶文) and Step Cheung (張小踏), who both took part in producing the Hong Kong animated film “Another World”.
The session attracted local practitioners, including students and representatives from institutions such as the public Macao Polytechnic University (MPU) and the private Macau University of Science and Technology (MUST).
Additional activities included a DJ anime dance session, alongside open stage performances and cosplay photography sessions, offering participants opportunities to showcase their talents.
