Integrated resort operator Sands China held several long-service ceremonies last month, with the events honouring over 4,000 staff who celebrated their 10th, 15th and 20th year anniversaries of service.

The company highlighted the achievements and celebrations in a statement on Monday.

The statement said that this year, around 1,300 staff are reaching 20 years of service, while around 1,700 and nearly 1,100 team members are hitting their 15-year and 10-year service milestones, respectively. Trophies, certificates, celebratory set meals, and special gifts were presented to the staff during the recent events.

The statement quoted Sands China Executive Vice Chairman Wilfred Wong Ying-wai as saying: “Sands China has been committed to Macau’s development for over two decades. From an initial workforce of 4,600 team members, we have now developed into a family of over 28,000 staff, with more than half having served for 10 years or more. Looking back at the early stages of Cotai’s development, we have driven the establishment of many landmark projects, and carved out the world-class, diverse integrated tourism and leisure businesses we operate today. All the achievements the company has made are attributed to the unwavering dedication of our team members”.

Sands China Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director Grant Chum Kwan Lock was quoted by the statement as saying: “The company has been undergoing a remarkable growth, with the annual visitation across our properties surging from over 70 million a decade ago to nearly 100 million in 2025. This achievement is the result of the long-term dedication, professionalism and collaborative spirit of our team members. I would like to extend my heartfelt appreciation to all team members for their contributions”, pledging commitment to the company’s “people-centred philosophy”.

The statement noted that the company is Macau’s largest private employer, noting that nearly 15,000 staff have served Sands China for 10 years or more by 2026, more than over 50 percent of the company’s current workforce. The statement also highlighted: “The percentage of local residents among the company’s management roles has soared from 20 percent in 2004 to now around 91 percent”.
