Over 280 participants gathered at Artyzen Grand Lapa Macau to commemorate International Yoga Day on Sunday.
International Yoga Day is annually celebrated on June 21 and was established by the United Nations in 2014. This year, it took on the theme “Yoga for Healthy Ageing”.
The hotel has supported the event since 2018, according to a Sunday statement, with the celebration held at the resort’s outdoor lawn that same morning.
The statement highlighted that it also saw a “cross-sector collaboration” between hospitality, wellness professionals and community organisations.
It was organised by Artyzen Grand Lapa Macau in partnership with Yoga Light, the Yoga and Sports General Association of Macau, Joy Yoga, and Green Zone, and formed part of Artyzen Studio, which the statement noted is “a group-wide platform established by Artyzen Hospitality Group “to bring together masters, artisans, and communities through meaningful cultural, creative and wellbeing experiences”.
Healthy refreshments and a curated health-food tasting experience were also part of the event, the statement said.
Rutger Verschuren, Area Vice President, Macau and Hengqin of Artyzen Hospitality Group and General Manager of Artyzen Grand Lapa Macau was quoted by the statement as saying: “For eight years in a row, International Yoga Day is one of our most meaningful community wellness initiatives. We are delighted to welcome more than 280 participants this year under the theme ‘Yoga for Healthy Ageing’, reminding us that wellbeing matters at every stage of life”.
