CURB – Center for Architecture and Urbanism has assumed the presidency and responsibility for leading the Greater Bay Area Urban Design Alliance (GBAUDA), a collaborative platform for urban design professionals, for the next two years, taking over from the Urban Planning Society of Shenzhen.
The announcement was made in a statement yesterday by the Macau-based non-profit, which noted that a handover ceremony was held at their headquarters to formally mark the leadership change.
The alliance, according to the statement, is a collaborative platform for urban design professionals and was established to “foster dialogue, collaboration, and innovation in urban design and planning” among professional institutions across the GBA. These are namely CURB, a founding member, the Hong Kong Institute of Urban Design, Guangzhou Urban Planning Association, Urban Planning Society of Shenzhen, and Zhuhai Planning Exploration and Design Industry Association.
The statement said that the moment marked “a significant milestone” for both CURB, headed by president Nuno Soares, an architect and urbanist, and Macau. Moreover, this places Macau “at the centre of a regional network dedicated to advancing urban design excellence and interdisciplinary collaboration”, the statement noted, with CURB to work closely with partner organisations on “a clear agenda to enhance people’s quality of life through vibrant public spaces and actively contribute to urban design” across the major GBA cities.
