The Macao 2026 Specialized World Stamp Exhibition, aka “MACAO 2026”, concluded its run at The Venetian Macao’s Cotai Expo yesterday, attracting over 10,000 visitors across six days.
The data comes from a statement yesterday from the Macao Post and Telecommunications Bureau (CTT), which co-organised the event in conjunction with the Macau Philatelic Association.
The final day saw activities including the celebration of the “FIP [Fédération Internationale de Philatélie] Centenary Day, the “Exhibition Badge Workshop”, and a seminar by local veteran artist and stamp designer Guilherme Ung Vai Meng, who tackled stories behind cultural heritage stamps.
Moreover, the six-day event showcased around 1,500 frames of rare stamp collections from over 40 countries and regions, with the statement adding that during the event’s Palmarès Nuit (French for “Nighttime Awards”) on Tuesday, the jury chose the winners among the competitive exhibits.
According to the statement, Singapore’s Yau Khai Weng won the Grand Prix International for “Queensland Classics”, while the Chinese mainland’s Ding Jinsong garnered the Grand Prix National for “Postal History of Mongolia (1854-1921).
Awards were also presented across 10 major “Competitive Exhibits Classes”, while there was a total of 22 Large Gold medals, 77 Gold medals, 87 Large Vermeil medals, 60 Vermeil medals, 27 Large Silver medals, 20 Silver medals, 24 Silver Bronze medals, 1 Bronze medal and 38 certificates for Promotional Class, the statement noted.
MACAO 2026 Organising Committee Chairman and CTT Acting Director Lao Lan Wa said, as summarised in the statement, he hopes that “stamp exhibitions would continue to serve as a bridge to advance philatelic culture, while encouraging more young people to join the ranks of collectors so that the legacy of philately burns bright across generations”.
