The Public Security Police (PSP) have arrested a tourist from the mainland for pretending to be a monk to sell charms and amulets after having gambled away all his money, a PSP spokesperson said during a regular press conference yesterday.

The spokesperson said PSP officers saw two men, one of them dressed as a monk, selling charms and amulets as well as reading palms near the Secretariat for Security (GSS) in Calçada dos Quartéis on Friday afternoon.

On questioning the duo, the officers found that they are both mainlanders, and thus arrested them for doing business without a valid work permit.

The undated handout photo provided by the Public Security Police (PSP) yesterday shows PSP officers escorting the two suspects to a police vehicle outside a police station.
